Sugar Bush TIme: The Village of Buckhorn presents the 17th Annual Buckhorn Maplefest from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at McLean Berry Farm (2191 16th line of Smith, Buckhorn). Come taste the sweetness, open to the public on the weekends. Visit a working sugar bush featuring pioneer displays, demonstrations, live music, walking trails, and much more. Admission is $4; children under 2 are free. Horse-drawn hay rides and pancake breakfast (a Lakefield Lions Club Fundraiser) are available for an additional fee. No dogs, please. Auction: The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority presents the 21st Annual Dinner & Auction from 6 - 11 p.m. at the Cobourg Lions Community Centre (157 Elgin St. East, Cobourg). You are invited to enjoy an excellent meal, exciting silent and live auctions, great raffles and door prizes at this fundraising dinner that supports the outdoor education program. Fundraiser: Camp Kawartha hosts its annual Green-in-Motion Fundraiser from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre (2505 Pioneer Rd., just south of Trent University, Peterborough). Bring the family and walk/run/bike along the Rotary Trail, or enjoy a leisurely nature hike in the beautiful Trent wildlife sanctuary. There will be refreshments, entertainment, and prizes. Tree Planting: The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) seeks landowners interested in planting trees in 2010. Some funding and technical assistance is available to support landowners wishing to plant trees within GRCA jurisdiction. Benefits of planting trees include the protection of soil and water, increased habitat for wildlife, increased renewable natural resource, and enhanced property values. Schools are encouraged to consider tree planting within school yards with assistance from GRCA staff.
